Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

Even in the Tsukiji Outer Market, I shot in an area where there are many fish sales companies for traders, not in the crowded street stall area.

There are also private houses in this area.

I photographed the entrance of a private house in the back between the buildings in the Tsukiji Outer Market.

It’s always a dark place, so the streetlights were on even during the day.

Even in Japan, the current law applies the rule that the width of the road in contact with the site must be 2 m or more. (There is a fire engine in Japan that can pass a 2m wide road)

However, this building in the back was built before the current law (probably before World War II), so that law does not apply.

However, it cannot be rebuilt, so in that case, I think that the area will be dismantled and rebuilt into a building facing the main street.

There are many places like this in Japan.
