Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken in Tsukishima, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

The Tsukishima area is a landfill area, but since the landfill period began around 1890, it is an area where old houses and stores remain despite the well-maintained cityscape.

Since this area has escaped from the war during World War II, old buildings may remain as they are.

It seems that “Ihei Kimura”, a photographer famous for using Leica, also visited Tsukishima often to take pictures.

This photograph was taken on the back street of “Nishinaka-dori”, commonly known as “Monja Street”.

There are unexpectedly old private houses on this street, so it is my photograph spot.

It’s probably a cultural house built around 1970, but I don’t know the details.

The look of the old and dirty mortar wall gives the front door a nice atmosphere, so I imagined it was about 50 years old.

 Old Japanese houses are picturesque.
