Thinking About This Photograph
This photograph was taken early in the “Alley” series.
It was taken in a slightly lonely alley on the east side of “Showa-Street” that passes through Ginza.
Four air conditioner outdoor units are neatly arranged on the back side wall of the building, and gas meters are arranged together with piping under them.
And in front of it is a bicycle with a cover.
The bicycle is covered, so it seems that it is always on the spot.
This is a back alley, so no one seems to complain.
When I’m shooting, people sometimes come into what seems to be a back door.
It may seem like a lonely building, but since it is a prime location in Ginza, you can see the flow of people.
Regarding the photograph, the actual scenery is a little brighter, but by setting the exposure a little underexposed, I made the whole darker and made the gas meter in the highlight part stand out.
