Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

This traditional Japanese house is a “Kyomachiya” structure that can be seen in Kyoto, but it was never shot in Kyoto or Kawagoe.

I’m shooting in Tsukiji, the center of Tokyo.

This building was built around 1932 in the urban reconstruction plan after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.

This building is a rental property and was vacant at the time of shooting.

Perhaps, for businesses such as sake sales, old Japanese houses are suitable as stores.

This Japanese house does not face the main street and there are not many people, so it may be difficult to decide on a tenant.

It’s a rental property, so it’s an old house, but it’s well maintained.

I think that the exterior wall material using solid wood board is suitable for the subject of film photography.

This is because the wood grain tone can make your photos look attractive.

I hope that new Japanese housing will be more tasteful.
