Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken at 7-chome, Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

Tsukiji 7-chome was called “Odawara-cho” before the change of the addressing system in 1966, and it is the most populous area in Tsukiji 1-chome-7-chome.

The large population means that there are many private houses and shops, and the old townscape still remains.

The store in this photograph seems to have been a Japanese restaurant or a Japanese “izakaya”, but the truth is that the information is scarce and I don’t know.

However, it still has a good taste.

The appearance also firmly expresses Japanese-style architecture, such as the installation of “Inuyarai”(Short arched traditionally bamboo fence around walls of traditional townhouses), the use of copper plate walls with green rust, roof tiles, plaster, and window lattices.

I think I was able to express this photograph beautifully from shadows to highlights.
