Thinking About This Photograph

“Ginza” is synonymous with downtown Japan.

Even in rural areas of Japan, there are many places that have named it “◯◯ Ginza Shopping Street”, and the name Ginza is so pervasive.

 This is the real “Ginza”.

I think that the whole city of Ginza is a beautiful downtown area, but when you enter the back street, you will see a surprising face.

This narrow alley is one of them.

There are many alleys in Ginza, many of which are more like “passages between buildings” than “roads”.

Many canned juice vending machines are lined up and are not very noticeable, so some people smoke and take a break.  (Chuo-ku, Tokyo is non-smoking except for smoking areas)

I took a picture of such an alley.

I think Japanese alleys are narrower than overseas alleys, but I hope this photograph shows that.
