Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken at 2-chome, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, a little away from downtown Ginza.

The right side is a general private house (it seems to have been a business before), and the left side is a small rental building where tenants enter, and a door is provided to connect it.

I released the shutter because I was attracted to a place where I couldn’t understand what this door was for just by looking at it from the outside.

To be honest, I don’t know if this door is for using the emergency stairs that can be seen in the back, or if it is a security door to prevent easy entry to the back of the site.

In downtown areas such as Ginza, security doors are often installed to prevent suspicious persons from entering through the gaps between buildings.

I don’t know if there is such a door overseas, but I think it’s a Japanese landscape.
