Thinking About This Photograph

There are many “streets” in Ginza.

 There are main streets such as Harumi-dori, Chuo-dori (Ginza-dori), Showa-dori, and Sotobori-dori (West Ginza-dori).

 Also, the famous streets connecting the main streets are Miyuki-dori, Kojunsha-dori, Gomon-dori, Maronie-dori, Matsuya-dori, Ginza-Yanagi-dori, Kobikicho-dori, West-Fifth-Avenue-dori, Sukiya-dori, Sony-dori, Konparu-dori, Namiki-dori.

These streets are famous streets with nicknames, but what I call the Ginza alley is a path that is difficult to pass by not only cars but also bicycles.

The expression “passage between buildings” may be more correct than a road.

It is similar to the difference between a “river and a canal”, where a river is a water passage over land, but a canal is part of the sea between landfills.

I think the alley in Ginza resembles this “canal”.

At first glance, the alley in this photo is about 3m to 4m wide, but the left half of the road is actually the site of the building.

It’s fun to take a walk while shooting Ginza while imagining such a thing.
