Thinking About This Photograph

This photograph was taken in Monzennakacho, Koto-ku, Tokyo.

I heard that most of the land in Monzennakacho is a reclaimed land, and only the place where the famous shrine “Tomioka Hachimangu” is located was an island.

Monzennakacho is a town that has developed thanks to “Tomioka Hachimangu“.

When you enter the back alley of “Eitai-dori”, which is the main street of Monzennakacho, there is a alley that used to be “Hanamachi” (red-light district), and many restaurants are lined up.

The place where this photograph was taken is the town called “Eitai Town” on the opposite side of the “Hanamachi”.

Many private houses line up in “Eitai Town”, but it seems that this area used to be lined with fish banks along the river.

This is one shot taken in such a place.

I photographed the front entrance of a traditional Japanese wooden house with a taste.

I think that the wooden architecture, which has a time-honored atmosphere, is a good subject for film photography.
