Thinking About This Photograph<\/h3>\n

\u00a0This photograph was taken in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0I photographed the back entrance of a building with restaurants in the area called Higashi-Ginza on the east side of “Chuo-dori” (Ginza Street).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This photograph was taken in June 2020, so it’s still before the “The Other Side of Tokyo Japan” project started in earnest, and this is one of the photos that inspired me to start this project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0At that time, I was shooting a show window in Ginza, but I remember seeing this back door and wanting to take a picture.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Ginza is an area lined with brand shops, and there is no other city in Tokyo where you can see so many brand shop show windows.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0For that reason, I was shooting a show window in Ginza, but when I happened to pass the back alley, I came across this landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0It was a dingy, ugly landscape, but I felt something shining.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Since then, I realized that “ugly things are good for photography” and decided to start this project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0What I have always aimed for as a photographer is “a photograph in which a moving object appears to stop and a stationary object appears to move”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0In this project, I would like to take pictures with the aim of “photographing ugly things beautifully and beautiful things ugly”.<\/span><\/p>\n
